Yaquina Bay this weekend

(1/5) > >>

Beer_Run:
Planning on hitting Yaquina Bay this weekend for some crabbing by the NOAA docks. Looking for some intel on doing a bit of bottom fishing while the traps soak. Have only spent a bit of time fishing along the south jetty pretty close to the bridge.

Any tips/input would be much appreciated. Will be fishing the incoming tide through high slack.

Clayman:
I've done alright fishing around the groins coming off the south jetty. Mostly blacks and small/medium lings. Sometimes a big ling shows up, my spearfishing buddies seem to find em out there with regularity. Fishing further west along the jetty doesn't seem to help much--the rocks drop down to sand very quickly, so there isn't much rocky bottom to drift over.

I'm thinking of poking around out there a bit tomorrow, see if I can get a ling. If I go, I'll have my radio on 69.

MonkeyFist:
I've done just like Clayman.
Fish the incoming, sit out just past the end of the groins where it drops.
Small rockfish, some greenling.
Truck is loaded, I'll see you out there tomorrow.

SD2OR:
What time are you guys planning on launching?

MonkeyFist:
I'm hoping to leave Corvallis by 7, so 8ish for me.
