Hi guys, I live in LA and work between OR and CA, I am planning to come up in August for 3 weeks, I want to fish for rock fish in Tillamook Bay and Haystack rock, maybe Pungent Sound. I have a Hobie Revo 13, what type of rigging and bait I should be using? In socal I am using dropper loop and either use shrimp or squid, works every time. Also is there a chance to fish for salmon during that time? If so where should I go? Also I would like to go with the local kayak fishermen.

Can't speak for OR fisheries, but Pungent Sound will be closed in August (assuming you're referring to Shilshole bay right after a sewage spill).

Salmon should be open in several parts of Puget Sound in August. Read up on the regs, WDFW divides Puget Sound up into smaller areas to allow for more fishing opportunities.

Ocean salmon should be going strong off the OR coast, Depot Bay/Fogarty creek and Pacific City probably the most common kayak launch points.

2 salmon per day, any Chinook and until August 21 also hatchery coho (unless the quota is used up before that.)

Thanks for the info, I know the beach launch spot is in Pacific City. What about Tillamook Bay?

Ask Mojo Jojo, he's our resident Tillamook expert.
I expected the worst, but it was worse than I expected...
