Title: Stupid Camera Question
Post by: Tinker on October 11, 2021, 10:35:46 AM
My Granddaughter is letting me try her Olympus Tough TG-6 (since I can't manage an iPhone by myself) but she didn't leave me with a carrying case or pouch or sleeve or whatever to protect it while I'm using it.

That was silly.  She knows me better than that.

For anyone who owns one of these things, could you recommend something to use when hauling this around?  I'll use it a lot while walking with the dogs, so I'm looking for something small and easy to get the camera into and out again.

Take a small sock, fold the top of the sock down over the foot part of the sock to shorten it and to double it over, and stick the camera into it.  When you want to take a picture, pull the sock off the camera and stick it (the sock) into your pocket.

Now Peter, that is nowhere near complicated enough for me - but I'll use it.  Now I need one that protects it from bumps and bangs.

Thanks!

Use a thick thermal sock.

Paraphrasing the great Carl Sagan, "There are no stupid questions". Great, simple solution!. I also use my retired (as in "with too many holes") thermal socks for fly reel storage for those unlucky ones that don't have a proper reel case.

It's obvious you haven't been following my escapades...

Get a good quality pelican case for more $$$ then the camera is worth and you’ll be good, now it will be cumbersome and very difficult to get to quickly or quietly….. I have been following your escapades so be sure you get someone to record you when your trying to get it out on the hiking trail.  :banjo:

You just want to see me fumble it while trying to get it out and watch as it tumbles over the cliff.  Thanks, but I'm wise to your antics. Mr. Jojo.  :o

Tinker, check Adorama Camera website. They've always treated their customers well and even spent time with us here on the site in the early days.

Thank you.  I'll look - or, if I go slowly enough, the kid will have taken it back before I have to do anything.

Adorama is a good outfit. Also look at B&H Camera, another very good one.  Great customer service from both of them.

Thank you.  B&H I know - I've patronized then before.  I have no experience with Adorama and it helps to know there are folks who are comfortable with them.

Thanks!
