just made my camp spot reservations. I'll be fishing WG from 05/10-05/13. I was thinking it would be fun to get a group together for some fishing and fish stories. Let me know if anyone is interested.

Sigh.   Busy until late night the 11th when I drop someone at the airport, but possibly down after that, no sooner than Monday.

Hope you guys have a safe weekend and get out and kill ‘em!

You'll get out with us soon AKRider.

Badger, did you end up catching anything? We thought about heading down Sunday but weren't sure if the weather would hold out. Went out this afternoon for the high tide but the surf was pretty rough, decided I'd rather drive home with an empty cooler than go for a swim!

Ended up going down Saturday--beautiful weather. Saw someone come in with 2 chickens. We zeroed out but had a good shake down cruise. By high tide there were many 6 packs out there too, so the guides must be thinking the Kings will be coming in. Did not see the 6 packs catching much though. Maybe will pick up in 1-2 weeks.

Can not make this weekend at WG but will work on next week or weekend. There is some concern that we will need to try for Kings early as Fish and Game may shut down the salt completely like they did last year. Looking at last year's weir counts, the last of May and actually early June is when the Kings start in numbers. As for halibut I could consistently catch them out farther at the kelp bed edge in 60-70 feet of water, more so on the incoming tide. But do not be out that far in the wrong direction at full force tide or you will be swept away. I can not beat full force tide with a paddle at WG.

I was wondering the same thing, I'm hearing that it's pretty choppy. The rest of the weekend doesn't look very good either.

AKSteel did you hit the water today?

I didnt make it down due to poor weather forcast but the lady and I were thinking about doing a day trip on Wednesday if the forcast is better...I heard it was 9' seas and blowing like a mad dog over the weekend.

We did the same - live to fish another day. I was actually thinking about Weds or Thurs myself, let me know if you end up coming down and want some company.

Going to drive down tomorrow morning for the AM tide. Looking at putting in around 6am. I may stick around for the evening tide but its only going to be a day trip.

Looks like I will be down to WG too tomorrow am. Weather looks better now than next weekend. I heard 2 kings were caught out of Ninilchik the past 2 days.
