Looking forward to this. Thanks for putting on a presentation!

You are assuming everyone uses this Facebook thingy.
Mind posting a date and time on this forum specifically?
I like Hopworks!

Sweet, looking forward to it!

Is this seminar still a go for tonight?

Is this seminar still a go for tonight?
I believe it still is. I have not heard anything from Hugh to say otherwise and it is still being advertised on FB.
I will be ther hope to see you there

I wanted to thank everyone who showed up for the seminar and Next Adventure for hosting this fun evening with libations. We covered a lot of information in a small amount of time & there were a lot of really great questions coming from the audience. It was nice meeting new faces and reconnecting with friends. :headbang:

Thank you very much for the seminar! I really enjoyed it and learned quite few interesting new things about steelhead fishing. Hopefully i can get some metal in the freezer in the coming months (although probably from the bank....I am still a little reluctant to throw my outback in a fast flowing winter river :))

Yes, I really enjoyed it. Lots of really relevant information. I particularly enjoyed the "How would you fish this" examples. The short videos really supported the presentation as well. Nice job!

What was the knot that you mentioned for tying a trailing leader to the hook bend? I meant to write it down so I could Google it.
Thank you for the seminar. I like fishing talk and free beer!

Does anyone else who attended remember the knot? >:D

I was thinking about this a few days ago. Are a Duncan and a Uni loop the same knot?
-
According to Wiki, this knot was originally named the Duncan loop, after Norman Duncan who developed it in the early 1960s. The knot was later popularized in a 1970 fishing book as the uni knot by Vic Dunaway, editor at the Miami Herald. It's breaking strength is less than 100% but greater than 90%. It's an easy knot to tie even with frozen fingers! Thanks Norman!

Great presentation last week. I learned a few good tips on how to mix up my steelhead techniques.
While we are on knots, I think you said you use a modified albright to attach between your braid and floro. Have you had any issues with them breaking after several days of them going back and forth through your guides?
-
I personally have not had issues with this knot breaking or snagging on the rod guides, when it's tied right. I use P-Line or Seaguar fluorocarbon fishing line. Every year or once in a season, i usually change out my Fluoro bumper & retie new line to my braided main.
Loon makes a product I really like called UV Knot Sense that is a clear epoxy substitute. It smoothes out the line's transition through the guides and is a fuss free knot insurance. It sets up almost immediately in natural light. As Walt mentioned at the seminar, it can also be used as a multipurpose glue for small flies/gear or "glueing" small pebbles to your line for added weight in a drift, in the place of split shot.

Thanks for the info. I think I will have to start gluing my splice knots.
