We had crappy weather last year. But when the weather is good, this is a fun tournament. Baitfish are showing in the inlet and I have been hearing of catches off powerboats improving somewhat for kings and he halibuts also showing
Here is the chamber's page for the derby: http://anchorpointchamber.org/2018-calcutta-tournament/ (http://anchorpointchamber.org/2018-calcutta-tournament/)

I’ve been saying this two years in a row. If you want a chance to catch a king, this event will give you that opportunity. Can’t guarantee anything in life but the odds are greatly in your favor. I didn’t catch a king during the derby last year but later that afternoon/night I caught my king.
Pending weather, I plan on fishing that weekend.

I'll probably try it again this year. I ended up fishing it last year. It was one of the few days I've gone out with the kayak that I wished I really hadn't.
Lesson learned: When the weather sucks, don't go out thinking it will get better by the time you come in.
After a while, the only reason I stayed out longer was because I was putting off coming in. It never got nicer. That was the closest I've come to turning my PA into a lawn dart. As it was I had my most interesting landing yet. Somehow I managed to come out of it on my feet with the boat upright. I wish I had a video so I could see how I made it through that one unscathed.
Hopefully this year will be much nicer.

I'm hoping to fish this on Saturday... hopefully the weather beats the forecast as it looks like it's gonna be a bit blustery on Friday. Looking forward to getting out for the first time this year!
-
Saturday not looking too great for weather. Sunday looks better. I definitely want to fish the derby, but if I have to wait till Sunday to get on the water, so be it. I gotta get out. This lack of fihsing is driving me nuts....
-
Looking at the weather forecast, I'm not going to push hard to go Saturday. It also doesn't help that I can hear the wind howling outside my house right now. I might try to hit Sunday. I really want to get out.
-
I was signed up, but with the house building I'm working on, and the wind forecast I think I'm going to skip it. I sure do hope to get out soon!
-
Ok. I registered but I am really hoping it is postponed till Sunday if the weather forecast holds true. The direction of the wind may keep us sheltered but could make for "fun" power boat launches.
Right now I say 75% chance we don't fish tomroow but ya never know!!!

Any update? Also Sunday low tide show 6:50 am on noaa and 8:15am on other tide website. Which is it?
-
0815 is the correct tide. (anchor point) I was curious as well how everyone did....or if they postponed.
-
I went out for a couple hours this afternoon, the forecast was accurate for wind and waves. Working south was a lot of work. Got a decent take down, but lost it about 20' from the boat.

Yah. Weather was a bummer. Sounds like Sunday was better but I decided I better pass and spend time with my mom.
This weather thing is bumming me out. I am also starting to get lazy, Not good.
