Vermont Fishing Report

Heading home tomorrow from a great week visiting an old friend, reliving many past adventures from 40 years ago and doing a little fishing. Went out on three different bodies of water in three different paddle craft. It's the peak of the foliage season in Vermont but hurricane Irene did quite a number on the state and there are a lot of hurting and homeless folks from all the damage.

Our first trip was in an Old Town canoe on Curtis Pond. We just paddled around the lake for hours, no fishing, just enjoying the scenery, beautiful quiet spot.

Next day we climbed Spruce Mountain, fist mountain climb for me in about 30 years! Great views.

Following day we took his two holer sea kayak out on Marshfield Pond, got lots of bites on worms but couldn't land one. Took some great shots of a Loon and her baby, teaching him to fish.

Then spent two days at Shelburn Museum while we waited for the rain to break. Outstanding exhibits and presentation, highly recommend this to anyone with an interest in history, art and culture.

Today we took his little pram out on Bliss Pond, turns out it was very aptly named. We were the only ones on the pond and the Perch and Chain Pickerel were hitting like mad. He graciously paddled us around and let me fish. Caught six perch and 5 Pickerel. Largest was a 20" Pick.
