So dragged the kids down to see their grandparents. Yah...that's the reason...

Fished Whiskey Gulch for kings for 5 hours monday  No love from the kings.

Did manage a consolation halibut. 31 inches. 13 pounds by the length weight chart  The tail was scraped up. Opened it up and only small crabs, no baitfish at all. Odd given the abundance of baitfish that should be in the area.

It was like RMF's butt, hardly any fight. Looked a bit chalky but wasn't the jelly halibut people are catching.

So hey I got to fish. Now for the drive back with all the traffic. Ugh...

Halibut is nice, no doubt. But no love from the Kings? That's a disappointment, I know. Were you marking fish and seeing lots of bait? Just curious.  Think I might slip out of town Tuesday night for a mid-week attempt...

And, awfully nice to have some time to foster grandparent and grandchild affection over the long weekend ... even if you did have to use the fishing excuse. You're a sly one.

Drive safe.

Well that's better than a poke in the eye! I played it close to home this weekend and just harassed the trout. Hopefully I can head down south soon again

The tides took me North today.  All the boats were down south.  I saw sporadic bait.  I found one rip line in 50ft of water that held bait and had one strike but the bait was near the bottom.

I was marking medium size fish in mid water column.  Would not be surprised if it was reds coming up for the first run.

Just banking the hours. The good news is all the river runs of both Kings and Hooligan are either nonexistent or late...hopefully late.  Its just a matter of time....
