Girlfriend talking about resident Coho in Area 13 and catching one on the kayak. She has a master's in fisheries science out of OSU.

super good info in that video,  Well Done!
"A venturesome minority will always be eager to get off on their own,
and no obstacle should be placed in their path;
let them take risk, for God sake, let them get lost, sun burnt, stranded, drowned,
eaten by bears, buried alive under avalanches -
that is the right and privilege of any free American."

There's some evidence that these guys are the same group of fish that are caught in MA10 in June after a short migration. They just hang out in South Sound in the winter eating ghost/sand shrimp, probably why they're miniature adults.

Great video, both entertaining and informative. Loved seeing the stoke on her face when she hooked up!

Thanks homie! I like when she first gets bit and it looks like she's angry at the fish for messing with her gear.

Rezzies and SRC are a gift to us saltwater anglers in the south sound.  If the water is too rough for a kayak, there is always still an opportunity from the beach.  Please treat them gently though....

Awesome Video!  I've never fished the south sound.  Are there recommendations for launch points?  I know Luhr Landing is accessible, but I am curious of other sites around south sound. Thanks!

Yeah, I can think of at least 30 separate locations that I've launched out of in 13. There are plenty of boat ramps all over that are barely used.

Google maps is your friend.  I just look for neighborhood streets that seem to go right into the water.  Nice thing about a kayak is you don't even need a ramp as long as you're not trespassing.  Just have to be aware of the tides and picture what a beach might look like at a really high or low tide.  Dragging your kayak back over a hundred feet of mud is not fun.

This is in reference to RCW 35.79.035, which is an important piece of legislation to be privy to if you're a kayak angler in the state of WA. If you look at county parcel maps you'll find that the land between the abutting street and water is public land... despite the signage adjacent property owners like to hang up.

A few years ago I looked all over my Southish Sound area for launch points, including the roads as noted.  It is in a .kmz file for Google maps, and I’m not certain of the best way to make it available. My iPad says I can put it on Pinterest, or I can message it to interested parties.  It’s not complete and doesn’t go all the way down to the ends of all our inlets...
