Pay Attention to the Beach

(1/2) > >>

Tinker:
Coming back in through tiny surf - 18" at most - I didn't notice that in a spring tide, the surf hits a large rock on the beach, splits in two, and sweeps up-and-down the beach.

Just as I'd put the bow on the beach and started patting myself on the back for another perfectly executed landing, I got sideswiped.  Mooned the beach, kept everything upright, and managed to complete the landing with a swamped kayak and ten pounds of sand as ballast.

After hours of washing and cleaning, I'm still finding sand in every part of the Hobie, in the reel, the rod, and everything big or small I was carrying - and somehow, in the kitchen.

Don't get tunnel vision, even in tiny surf.

Mojo Jojo:
Guess we need to re name you "sandy"

PNW:
Reminds me of this:

Tinker:
I'd like to think I was slightly more graceful, if not a lot smarter: I've watched that video several times, and still let ricocheting waves surprise me.   ???
