Ok, So this was a research trip. I needed to check out the utility of the Daiwa 750 Tanacom Electric Reels.
Fishing halibut on 300 feet of water with 3 pounds of lead. It was something different, and for the older gentleman who was 87, it made the difference between fishing and not fishing. For the rest of us even on the small tides with 300 feet of depth, it made the difference of fishing or not fishing for more than 3 or 4 drops. lol. Oh that top number is in meters....

Wow that's some serious gear. I don't even want to know how much that reel costs. :)

I have a set of heavy duty electric reels I got with my last power boat. There were many trips where clients were able to fish with the electric reel when they would not have been able to with conventional gear. It was funny. When I would get one out, people would say something like, "that looks like it would take all the fun out of it." After several bait checks, and maybe a few released chickens their tune would change to, "do you have any more of those." The biggest problem with them (for me) was that people didn't get tired out.
The ones I have aren't as pretty as the one in Rudy's picture.

The Daiwa Tanacom Bull 750 and the new cheaper Tanacom 750 are GREAT reels!
I've used them up to 1200 feet and 5 pounds of lead. Though 15 pounds is too much and a quick way to burn out the reel. Found that out when trying to decend a giant shortraker.
This year we were fishing 6 rods at a time with 2.5 pound pipe jigs in 800-1000 FOW and didn't tangle too bad.
Biggest halibut I know of was caught on Tanacom bull 750 .... 196 pounds.
