Anyone ever used an outfitter?  It's the big cousin of the outback, which I love.  But would it be worth it to have a tandem for the occasional female companion and more gear storage when I'm solo?

Pros/cons?
No matter how many times the PB's tell me I'm nuts....I still smile every time I out fish them

How often will it be used as a tandem? What are you targeting when alone? I wouldn't recommend it for an occasional  passenger, but that's just me. Don't you already own an outback? Maybe just get her a revo 11 and see how often she really wants to go. I see this happen a lot where wife's and significant others "think" their interested, but when it comes down to it the kayaks tend to go unused more then planned. Make her sign a contract promising to go out at least twice a month or 24 times a year. :)

And should she drop you, you should retain the rights to go out for at least those 2 times a month!!!

I go after halibut, salmon, and rockfish in the salt and a few things in some small lakes around here.  I've got an outback and a PA, just curious if anyone has used the outfitter for fishing.  No contract needed.....I go when I want to, and it's not a bad thing to have multiple yaks in the yard

If possible go for the Oasis, the extra length means more distance between the two of you, less likely to catch one another. The Oasis does move better than the Outfitter as well.

I have heard the Oasis is a better choice as well.  I have been told that in the Outfitter, the front person will be in for a pretty wet ride.

My theory is start looking for a kayak that you would select for yourself as an alternative or backup kayak, then try to convince her to like it. Worst case scenarios she doesn't stick with it and you've got yourself a sweet backup in your quiver.
(Yes this is incredibly selfish, but doesn't make it any less true)
