Morning conditions lookin good around PC and Depoe....
A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,
but why risk it?

I went out of Depoe today.
Water close in is green and 48.7 degrees.
In 100 feet of water off the condos it was 49.9
Out at 180 it was 52.4 and brown, but empty.
The lines of bait I saw Friday at 17-20 feet were gone.
Had a coho on for a hot minute, then it laughed and swam away.
Only salmon action I had.

Looked like Deptrai was on a powerboat out of Depoe today.
Got coho and nook, no idea how far out, or North or South.

Awesome Capt. Hook!
What time ya plan on launching?
I'm definitely leaning towards PC over Depoe/Fogarty.

Launch around 7.30-7.45'ish.
It will be me, my wife and a friend. As i have to prep my wife's kayak as well it is a bit more tricky to predict the exact launch time.
Still thinking whether i will drop a crab pot. i hope to see you out there!

Have you crabbed there before, know some good spots to drop traps?

I'm gonna be trying for salmon, first n foremost, then some rockfishing.

I'll likely be on the water a lil earlier than your group.

Contact me on ch 69 when ya launch. Camo Outback, with big bright orange flag.

Will do!

Crabbing: half a mile south of the rock in 60 ft of water. Just look where everyone else is dropping their pots:-)

Great, thanks for that!
Still deciding if I'm gonna bring my trap/s or not.
Either way, hope to see ya on the water!

Got a dilemma here. The rope on my traps is only 50ft. Is it still worth setting them up in ~45 ft of water or I would need to get a longer rope?

No question....add rope. If at PC or Depoe you'll be dropping in ~60 FOW and will need at least 75ft of rope. Lead core rope.

FOW x 1.25 is generally how much rope you should have. There’s other pieces that go into the equation too (tide exchange, current, swell, etc.) but just a very general rule of thumb. If you’re cutting it close you can add 6’ of rope and a trailer buoy that might save your bacon. DungyDog I think you were my neighbor at ORC, unless there is another Craig from Beaverton on this site.

Thank you guys. I will get a new 100ft roll of leaded rope. Still need to come up with some weights as I will be using cheap/light Danielson traps.

@Taras - Danielsons work just fine. I dropped one Wednesday at PC and got a limit. Some add lead weights to theirs, I don't. Just make sure to set a waypoint on your ff so you can navigate back to it.

@Asully - yeah Aaron, that was me. Hope to see you at PC or Depoe some time.
