Title: Ready to fish!
Post by: Lobo Angler on January 18, 2018, 06:26:49 PM
Hello,

New to kayaking and wanting to learn how it all works.  Located in Beaverton and I've fished the NW for the last 14 years (relocated from the SW) I've been in two kayaks in my life, 5 years ago a day trip on a small river in northern Wisconsin was the first.  The second was this past weekend, a rental from Scappoose Paddling the PA14.

I had a great time in the PA14 and will be renting again in some more challenging weather as this last weekend was sunny and 55 without hardly any breeze or chop, had a great time and did a 10 mile tour/checkout.  I'm interested in trying a few of the different peddle powered fishing kayaks in various weather and locations (river/ocean) before I make the plunge.

I was happy to find a forum dedicated to the sport, and look forward to learning as much as possible from the group.

Be seeing you on the boards,

Lobo

Welcome Lobo.  I'm a recent-ish SW transplant myself.  Been up here about 3 1/2 yrs now. Moved here from NM.  I'm in Cornelius.  Hopefully we get to meet up on the water sometime.

Welcome! I have two Native Propels, a Mariner 12.5 ft and a Slayer 13 ft(I believe) I’m in Garibaldi if I’m available on a day that works and don’t have the second seat taken you can test run the propels. Usually like hitting the Tillamook bay since it’s 1.2 minuets from my place  ;D
Good on you to try before you buy.

Appreciate the warm welcome guys!  Thanks for the offers and I'm sure I'll be in touch at some point as I work through the learning curve.

Thx,

Lobo

Check the calendar in the spring for Demo Days.  Portland's Next Adventure has many great options to choose from and probably even a Hobie First Cast Class taught by a couple people in this forum.
