So my girl has said she thinks getting into kayaking would be fun, so I figured I'd post something here to see if anyone has a good starter yak or can point me in the right direction.

What kind of fish will you be targeting? And how big is your GF (rhetorical question, but you'll need to consider comfort and fit whatever size she is)?
I'm 5'7" female, about 140lb and I fish lakes and rivers primarily for salmon and Kokanee, but also go saltwater fishing on the ocean on calm days. I own a Hobie Revolution 11 and it is awesome!! I went with the Revo11 because it is a little lighter hull compared to the Revo13 or outback that a lot of guys prefer, but I still have the pedal drive and plenty of deck space. It's worth every hobie nickel, though they are pricey.

Check Seattle Craig's list. Looked yesterday, there's a used Cobra in good condition for very reasonable.

In addition to Andrew's Kraken ( help a service member out) and a couple other yaks for sale by members here, there were several Hobies of various descriptions along with the Cobra and a few Tridents in both 13 and 15 sizes on that listing . Some looked to be pre rigged for fishing.

Andrew's Kraken is a sweet deal and anyone looking for a kayak would be happy with it, but may I suggest that you said your girlfriend "thinks getting into kayaking would be fun" and while she's thinking, don't dive in too deep. Kayaking is a fun hobby, but it isn't a simple hobby when you think about hauling it, cleaning it, and putting it away again. I'd suggest you may want to look at the simple, lower cost boats to see what will work for now. Just sayin'.

I would second this. My first kayak, a used native manta ray 11, I purchased in 2012?? used from Alder Creek Kayak for $329. Second one was an ocean kayak caper from CL for $450 with paddle, but dont really like it much. Its a back up back up or 3rd if a bunch of people go. My other kayak, my daily user, is my Wilderness Systems tarpon 120. I really really like it, its 10x better than my other two. Bought it for $600 on CL, slapped about $300 into it in electronics, anchor system and rod holders. Its sweet, but still south of a grand. Im a tall guy, so i buy the longest paddles I can find, but a good pair, with rubber grips and comfy to use all day, only cost $40 on amazon. Again, I see no reason to spend the crazy amounts of graphite, bent, etc paddles that are out there, unless you're a competitive racer or something. Those are my 2 cents :)
