Many of you are familiar with the Northwests largest fishing site, Ifish.  Each year the "Salty Dog" (saltwater fishermen) section of the site holds its Saltwater Sportsmen's Show (Salem Fairgrounds).  Its everything NW saltwater from tackle and product vendors to seminars and informational displays etc.  Last year, Kayak fishing was a little to "different" but this year they are game and gave me the nod.  Spot (if he's still game ) and I will be doing seminars on northwest saltwater kayak fishing, hoping to spread the word and bring a few more dedicated saltwater anglers over to the plastic boat side of the fence ;D.  Show runs Saturday March 31st and Sunday April 1st.  Get you tickets now!   Its a great place to learn techniques directly suited for our coastal fisheries. Check out the Salty dog board on Ifish for more info.

It's moved locations a couple times as it's developed.  Its grown large enough now, they are expecting around 1000 attendee's, that they needed a location like the state fair grounds (free parking, big event space, large rooms for seminars etc.).  I'm not involved in the organization of the show other than presenting, but I think its a well run event that even offers lunch if you order one.

I think that might work out for me. My Aunt's 80'th is happening down in Coburg on Saturday. I should be able to swing by on the way home. Get a dose of Sauber know how.

Today's Kayak Seminar went well.  Turnout was lighter than I'd hoped but everyone there was stoked on kayak fishing.

Ron and I checked out the vendors booths after the show and found lots of great gear and info.

Tomorrow we'll be presenting at 1:00PM.  Stop by and say hi.

Same here, I wanted to check it out, drove by Saturday, but it was too late to stop by. Today I couldn't shake free.

Hope you guys had better turnout today.

A co-worker told me about this event. I hoped to make it just ran out of time. I wish we would do away with daylight savings time and do weekend savings time instead.  We could add like 4 hours to the weekend days!

It was fun and a nice group of folks, as always it was great teaming up with Mark.  Its always fun to see the excitement in peoples eyes as they discover the potential that kayak fishing holds for them.  I'll be doing it again next year.

I made it up to check out the show.  You guy's did a great job and covered all the bases.  I thought there was good turnout for your seminar for how many people were at the show.  I ran out at the end hoping to be able to check 4-6 more booths to find everybody packing up.  Thanks for being great ambassadors of our sport.

Awwwww shucks.....  :-*

Thanks Guys!

It was great having Ron on the presenting side of the room this time!  It's easy to leave out a detail or two as you try to do justice to a topic.  Having a highly skilled co-presenter keeps the pauses to a minimum and ensures a balanced point of view on the topics that hinge on personal choice.

The iSSS staff was sufficiently impressed to talk about how they could advertise the kayak angle more effectively for next year.  Can you believe it?  We're nearly legit!
