It’s crazy that I first registered for this site in 2007….where have the years gone?

Anyways…I moved to Joseph from Bend and took up Kokanee fishing after watching a bunch of Spilt Milt’s videos to learn tricks of the trade. Wallowa Lake is 15 minutes from my place. Today I finally caught one of those Wallowa Lake monsters. 23.5” long…5-6 pounds conservatively (I didn’t have a scale). Pink micro-hoochie with shoepeg fished behind a dodger at 30 feet on the downrigger. I trolled back through the same area and hooked up with another monster that broke me off between my snelled hooks. Pictures aren’t great but the next biggest fish I caught was 15 inches for reference.

*Part Deux…..

Slower bite this morning…..but caught another nice one. 21 and change….3-4 pounds

Super impressive!
Awesome job!
A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,
but why risk it?

Man that is huge - nice job! I would love to fish Wallowa sometime even just for the natural beauty.

That’s a great fish.  Good to see there are still some big ones there.  Also good to see you back on the forum.
Being retired, they pay me when I go fishing, therefore I am kind of a professional fisherman.

It looks like now you brought a better fillet knife for this size fish:-)

Congrats on another great catch.

Congrats on that amazing fish! I’m a Spilt Milt follower too! I’m in Walla Walla and plan to go to Wallowa Lake this weekend. What does August Kokanee fishing look like there? Thanks.
