I was wanting to head to Sunset Bay Sat & Sun but there's small craft advisories. According to MSW the conditions are looking better for Brookings and Gold Beach.

I called over to the bait and tackle shop in Brookings and Rob there said the bite is hot for king salmon in Gold Beach right now. He suggested the estuary between Jot's Resort and the Bridge.

I haven't been out there before and was wondering about where to launch, tides, wind and other boats.

It looks like Sunday will have gusts up to 14mph around mid-day, 8-10 mph average for the day.

Any tips are appreciated. I'll be in the red outback and old brown 4runner if you're also out there.

Thanks!

Don't believe in the wind forecasts.  They've been wrong all year (way low).

There are two tackle shops in Gold Beach.  Between them, Lex's Landing might be the best one to ask abut the Rogue Bay.

It's a very busy area right now.  Lots of boats, lots of guides, and a lot of combat fishing.  Stay safe.

Might get even more busy now, A 40lbish fish was caught there this morning.

Yep.  Between that and the folks being driven south by Dune Fest, it's sure to be a zoo.
