I fill the inside of my hull about 1/4 of the way and add some bleach....swish is around for an hour or so and the stink is gone. Rinse with fresh water, and let air dry. Good as new

Usually about a cup worth. I keep the hatches open for a week to air out

I've never needed my pump on the water but it comes in handy after you rinse out the inside of your Yak or if your washing machine decides it doesn't want to drain....

Have you tried adding a rubber gasket to the lid of the hatch? could still use the tub insert as is too.

Has anyone tried just changing out the hatch for one that actually seals?

the latest from Hobie is to try a different model seal that is thicker...they say they are still working on a redesign of the seal

Hobie has new employees that were doing the trimming and there were some training issues. It has been addressed. They have supplied a thicker seal to me. I will post when I test it in the pool.

Thanks Mike.   I recently read that thread on Hobie forum where Matt talks about the "training issue".     Did you get the new seal from Hobie directly or through your dealer?     I have a 2015 Outback but haven't used it much yet so am not sure if I have the same issue.

How does training affect the thickness of a seal?? Just wondering.

If the protruding "lip" is cut too short, then the fixed-thickness-gasket-seal will become too short/not tall enough to make a good seal with the lid/cover when closed.

that is correct Dr

the seal was provided as a warranty claim from the dealer, Hobie would not send it direct
