Sad news - Alan Boschee (AMB) passed way last Saturday, May 29th, 2017. I talked with Sue this evening. His wish was to have his ashes scattered near Haystack Rock at Cape Kiwanda. Sue will let us know when that can occur.

Holy chit!  That was unexpected. :o

Allen was a great guy, and really fun to fish with.

We had a beer and a burger together every once in a while just to chat.

He took me to some out of the way areas near the plant he worked to swing my metal detector that he was sure nobody had ever detected.

You will be missed....
RIP my friend, RIP.

Never got to fish with him (unless it was at ORC).

RIP my man!

If the ash scattering will be held off until summer, maybe do it the same weekend as ORC??  I'd take a bit of extra time to help out with giving him a good send off if so.

I was going through the contacts in my phone yesterday and I saw AMB and was thinking "man I haven't heard anything from that guy in a while."

Alan was a nice guy with a great sense of humor. He'll be missed.

I remember the 1st time I met Alan.  We were sitting around a campfire in Pacific City the night before the 1st ORC.  Over the years I had the pleasure of sharing several campfires with him.  He was always humble to a fault but wore his stoke on his sleeve.

Alan, I'll think of you round those coastal campfires!  Tight lines, fair weather and following seas my friend!

You could always count on Alan to bring enough wood for the campfire. We first met at the first ORC in 2008. We fished together many times, including the year when there were 10 foot swells at the SBAOTD. Not much fishing, but we sure had fun riding those swells! RIP dear friend, you will be missed, but never forgotten.

Thanks Andrew. It would be great if we could do that on ORC weekend.

Like Spot, I remember at the first ORC hanging out and chatting with him. It was his first time and was a little nervous about getting out there. He had a fun time and when I was a cleaning fish pointed out a worm in the fillet. He gave the best face when he saw that and said "I'll take the chicken!" :D He was always so super humble and a real good guy. In my memories ORC always had him in it. So stoked that he'll be there every year now. You'll be missed Alan.

What a small world.  In my time on NWKA, I have read reports by and had heard of AMB...and knew his name was Alan.  It wasn't until we printed his obituary in the Oregonian last night that I realized it was Alan Boschee....fellow classmate at Hudson Bay High in Vancouver, class of '77.  Not like we hung out,but had classes together, etc. Yep, remember him as a super nice, laid back guy.Sorry to lose a kayak brother and a fellow Eagle. My condolences to his family and friends.
