Elk IV is August 1st thru the 3rd in Elk, CA (Mendocino County)

The count down has begun!  Look for a thread in the near future in tis forum called "Elk Open" Once it is posted there will be an email link to signup.  Signup is as follows:

Non-county residents

1. Be one of the fisrt 50 non-mendocino residents to send an email AFTER the link is posted.
2. You will get an email with reg. packet files attached.  The reg materials and payment will need to be received via mail at GWKC within 10 days of the "opener" or I will take the next person on the wait list.
3. You can only email for yourself, no group sign-ups

Residents

1. We are not limited by time or numbers in this category so take your sweet loving time getting it in, but I would appreciate a head count so please email as soon as possible.

Lets make this the best Elk ever!!!!

With it's limited 50 spots and popularity spots at Elk always go pretty quickly.  I'm guessing the fact that NCKA has nearly doubled in size since last year's signup isn't going to help matters.

Anyway, if you wanted to go this year.  Good luck getting a spot.

Well if anyone was interested, Elk signup came and went today while I was out fishing.  Turns out as a past champ, I have a space reserved for me.  I know that I promised a few of the So. Oregon guys I'd let them know when the sign up was posted.  Sorry guys, I let you down today but by the time I found out it was already sold out.  :(

Hey Z, yeah carpooling would be great.  We need to show those CA boys how to catch some fish.

CBY, this is an awesome tourney! Fishing is insane and the people are all hard core yakfishermen/women. It's like a party/fish/clinic on yakfishing for rockfish. It's turning out to be the most prestigious rock fishing yak tourney on the West Coast. All in all good time. Hard to put it all into words but check out the pics here:

Here's a ling I caught at the Elk tournament in 2005.

I'm hoping I can eventually catch a bigger one here in Oregon.

CBY,

There is a waiting list of about four guys right now.  There are always a bunch of guys that end up dropping out so it might be worth getting on the list if you're interested at all.  Check out the NCKA site.. here is the wait list post.
