And yes, I got that goose egg off my back.
Congrats on getting on the board.  I'm guessing you have plans to upgrade the little fella. ;D

So many good scoring opportunities up there.  You could win the whole thing.

LOL, <<seriously!
Yeah the "potential" is there but there are a LOT of ordinary, i.e. plain old average fish, to sort through for that one that would make a difference and we have a very limited window of opportunity with such a short open water season. So I think you West Coasters' positions on the standings are safe from us.
I've decided that a more suitable challenge for Alaskans or myself would be to focus on specific species to go for the top spot of record.   ;)  I spent a half hour on the phone with the manager of our hatchery today getting data on growth rates of our rainbow and arctic char that are in our lakes. Was worth the effort as I now have some locations with a potential 32" char (top spot) and another with 25+" rainbows (200 pts) swimming in 15 feet of water....perhaps easy prey for my fly rod!  And OF COURSE that top spot for halibut will be mine before the summer is over.  ;D  I'll be fishing 2 to 4 pound whole baits!
The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

I have yet to go fishing this year but I'll throw in again and try to beat my one entry from last year. Thanks to the organizers for all the work they put into this!

Last year, the grand prize was a very cool plaque that was made by our neighbor NCKA.

Will this year have the same prize? From the same artist?

Any way to get a second or third prize with plaques made by the same artist?

I really dig that artwork. Maybe if we had some cool t shirts to go with it?

Love the idea - maybe reach out to Drifter directly and see what we can get going.

I like the idea as well. Also, I haven't had any takers on the hardship entries. I will contact Jed for the contact info unless someone else has the person who made the plaques info.

I have been in contact with Sean and he is working on the NWKA plaque as well as a bunch for NCKA. He has some pretty cool art work for sure.

I set up the BCS with the same format as the AOTY so if you attend the shootout you can potentially post 7 species in one day. The reservoir is huge and holds many big fish. Merz got his PB large mouth bass at this years event.

My advice to anglers that want to win is to start early and fish areas where there is potentially multiple high scoring fish of different species in the same body of water or near by.

New sponsor!
Cheeky Fishing has donated a Cheeky 375 pre-loaded fly reel complete with backing, line and leader.
I have been trying to find a reel to accompany one of the fly rods for the fly fishing category! So stoked!
They also sent a discount code for 40% off.

Check them out and show so love for our awesome sponsors!
