Brian and Mark, a month ago I dislocated three fingers on my left hand. With only a thumb and forefinger that work, I wouldn't feel safe out fishing since I would be unable to self rescue, let alone being able to hold a fishing rod. The Doc said I will probably have some use of the fingers by the first of the year! As you can guess, I am pretty bummed😥

Yikes! If it would help, I would gladly let you use my rescue steps. Just loop on the side handle of the kayak. I would hate to be grounded off the big pond for a year!

Damn, sorry to hear this Dave. Will miss you and your chowder at the camp but hoping you have a speedy recovery.

At least it’s not your right hand  >:D.

I second the idea of you at least joining the camp out.

Hopefully I’ll make it, but still not sure.

Damn.  We will miss you there. You are a mainstay at the ORC.

I posted the ORC 2021 Rules and made it sticky on this board.  If you remember the rules in 2019, they are the same this year.

Haven’t seen anything.  But even if I do make I’m not signing up for the taco feed.

The ORC steering committee hasn't committed to a "taco feed", but if members of the community wants to put one on, we say go for it.

Quick reminder that there is only one week left to register for the ORC.

Also, we have confirmed an Old Towne Salty PDL 120  for big our raffle prize.

Between how busy things are and the fact I haven’t been able to actually fish in waaayyyy too long, I’m going to have to miss this year.  But my goals before next July will include getting back into shape for the ocean, and putting in some good time in the saddle to get back in the groove.

Have fun, and stay safe all!

Last I heard we have 71 entries for the ORC this year.  Not bad for a re-building year after a Covid cancellation, changing health guidelines, and for our sponsors, supply chain issues.   A big shout out to Next Adventure for being the presenting sponsor this year.

I pinned a couple threads at the top of the Events board, but in case you didn't see them or if TapaTalk is hiding those from people here are those links....

Official Tournament Rules
https://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=22928

The rules and format are basically the same as the past couple years...

Captains meeting on Friday night
Safety Check out in Saturday morning before launch
Check back in before you weigh in
We'll head back to Chinook Bend RV resort and at 7 pm we'll hand out prizes to the top finishers based on combined "slam" weight
The person catching the largest biggest fish will receive 10 extra raffle tickets
We'll then close the raffle sales and draw a winner

Normally the NWKA community hosts a big pot luck  on Saturday night during right before the awards, but that didn't materialize this year.  If anyone wants to take this on next year, it's never too late to start organizing.

I doubt I'll ever make to a Classic, but I can still appreciate Next Adventure stepping up.  Good job, NA!
