Hello all,

I'm new to the whole kayak scene, but experienced fisherman. Recently picked up a Hobie Lynx and am loving it so far. Wish I could get some h-rails...  :( I'm based in NE Tacoma so I'm looking forward to fishing MA 9-13. Hope to meet some of you out there, excited to learn from the wise vets on this site.

I have a Lynx and really like fishing from it.  I ordered the H-rail kit last winter when I bought the kayak.  I just got them last month, so at least some are showing up.  They are a great addition, not only for more mounting options, but also for helping contain stuff on the kayak.
Being retired, they pay me when I go fishing, therefore I am kind of a professional fisherman.

Welcome, I assume you bought the Lynx at Sportco?  I work at OE, we've got a bunch of the rails on order but unfortunately they are back ordered right now.

Thanks all,

Drifter2007, thanks for the heads up regarding the meet up, I’ll be out of town that weekend, but will definitely try to make a different meetup.

Nobaddays, really like how lightweight and stable the platform is, very jealous of your h-rails, the side handles really don’t do a damn thing, need the h-rails to use as handles besides the obvious benefits of having them. Are you running a downrigger at all? My goal is to figure out how to attach a Scotty 1099 compact to my lynx… lol

Yakhunter, appreciate it.

Yeah, our hours at OE are a little different (generally 10-7).

I built a H-Rail platform for my Scotty 1060 Downrigger using two Hobie H-Rail Mounting Plates mated to a cutting board (love them for mods) base.  The 1010 Scotty mounting bracket attached to the cutting board base allows me to quickly remove  the downrigger while leaving the base attached to the H-Rail on my PA14.  Works pretty well and it's easy to reposition.   I am sure you could do something similar for a 1099 but additional bracing would most likely be needed for the much heavier electric 1099 versus the manual 1050s and 60s.

No, I don’t run a down rigger.  One of the things I really like about the Lynx is getting in to lakes that are too low for most other boats.  I like the simple design.
