I think Friday is looking doable.  I'll keep checking, but I'm thinking Fogarty and a big ling might be happening

Wind is going to keep me in the valley chasing springers or just sleeping in. Wind not much better here so it will be a game day decision.  Crap.

Got an east wind right now in Tillamook, so it should blow ya ON the water not off. Kinda breezy already, I wouldn’t want to be OTW right now.

I’m going out of Depoe tomorrow. Windfinder has the wind out of the north less than 10mph all day.

Did anyone make it out today? Plans for tomorrow?

My wife and I are up at one of our timeshare condos in Ocean Shores, WA. The ocean is beautiful and pretty small swell here. The winds however have been relentless. Blowing pretty hard 24/7.

No fish will be harmed in the making of my story.

Good luck everyone!

Fished OC yesterday until I could not stand fighting the wind anymore. Can't imagine the wind at the coast. Might try head of the channel Sunday am.

A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,

Must of been good weather, lot of boats working the shallow areas between Depoe and Fogarty.  I move farther out just to get some space.

Tons of medium sized rockfish of various types with a few good sized ones mixed in.  Wanting small baits.  Lots of 2-3" sandworm looking things in the water that I think they were feeding on.  Even a good bit of surface action.  Would've been a great opportunity to flyrod one up. Oh well.  Fair number of linkcod around but most were barely legal or just under.

SD2OR had the monster of the day

How big was it.  Inquiring minds want to know.  It looks good for sure
Being retired, they pay me when I go fishing, therefore I am kind of a professional fisherman.

I only had a few hours to fish yesterday morning before work, but I was stoked to enjoy the nice water for a bit. The early morning bite was scratchy, as it usually is with bottomfish. Things slowly picked up as the sun rose in the sky. Connected on a few lings, harvested 33 and 32 inchers. Sifted through blacks, blues, and deacons to harvest the tastiest-looking ones. Headed back to the beach by 1030.

Water temp high 40s, 15 ft of vis, bout a 1mph north current. The cold water likely depressed the rockfish bite, but I was expecting a better lingcod bite given the conditions. I fished 70-90 ft yesterday. It's possible the ling bite was better shallower or deeper than that, I just didn't have the time to investigate. Glad to see SD2OR and Kemfish found some good ones after I left, nice fish guys!
