The guy (Trevor) is leaving the country soon and is liquidating his gear.  Heading to the Netherlands for ASML (as a contracter).

Looks like he lowered his price slightly since I chatted with him.

Insayn,
You are too good at haggling.  I am afraid you will get the yak and I will somehow owe you money.

edit: Here is a gallery link of what she looks like. https://mueller.smugmug.com/Outdoors/Yak-Pimping/Hobie-Revolution-2104-For-Sale/n-LTNnHp The rod holder is not included, I just set it up as a demonstration on its salmon slaying ability.  You can open each picture as 4K and really zoom in to see details.

It's me. I'm ugly so I hired a model known as Sinker. He borrowed the kayak one day while I used my grey Adventure.

We got our crab limit that day for two of us with one pot.  At the price of crab, four trips like that and the kayak pays for itself.  Even faster when you factor in the price per pound of lingcod, rockfish, and salmon.

That one has the old style rudder that sucks. If you want this style, I have a dune one with 2 v1 drives I would sell you for a 1000.  It needs some bungees replaced, but nothing very difficult.  I also have a bag of spare parts for the drive. I bought it from Noah about 5 years ago, and just bought a new one this year.

Also, research the serial number.  There was a period of time pre- 2010 where a run of hobies had mirage drive mounts that would crack.

This is from here http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=14986.0:

I'm pretty sure it was the pre-2008 hobies that were most notorious for the drivewell cracks. "Outbacks with serial numbers A3753 through F2853; Adventure with serial numbers D0001 through D1875" were the ones issued free drivewell reinforcement kits.

I recently bought an '07 Hobie Adventure. Prior to pulling the trigger, I spent some time on the phone w/ a Hobie staffmember, who essentially said that "If it hasn't already cracked, then it probably won't, as the bad boats went bad pretty quickly." I'm not sure how true that is, but I'm hoping for my own sake he's correct.  Of course, polyethylene gets more brittle the older it is, so take that for whatever it's worth.

That said, ask to take it for a test paddle/peddle and thoroughly inspect the scupper are drivewell areas, both front and back for any possible cracks. Bring a flashlight.

Last thing -
This is what the improved, reinforced drivewell looks like - notice the "lip" extending down to the hull - http://im1.shutterfly.com/media/47b7d731b3127ccec241d1c4192000000010O00AbMmzFizcN2IPbz4M/cC/f%3D0/ps%3D50/r%3D0/rx%3D720/ry%3D480/

and this is what the non-reinforced, earlier drivewell looks like - notice there's no "lip" -

Sold it in 15 minutes on Facebook. :)  Had three people waiting.  Not a lot out there on the used market I've seen.

I think we are going to see the number of used outbacks for sale increase a lot in the next six months.  I wonder if used market prices will drop?
