Hi everyone, sorry for the late post. I wanted to do everything at the same time but it seems like everything is taking a long time to do. I do have the ball rolling on shirts and the belt buckle. Buckle will be ready in early Sept. I'll do separate posts for those as they finish.

Here is the rundown of the BCS V from June 13, 2020.

The Brownlee Crappie Shootout V was happy to have 22 anglers show up on one weeks notice. The event was scheduled immediately following Baker County going in to phase 2 and with the consent of the County Commissioners office as well as State permitting office. All safety recommendations were followed.

Net proceed were donated to the Court Appointed Special Advocated CASA of Eastern Oregon.

The reservoir was at full capacity by tournament day and the reports on those pre fishing were that the bass were plentiful but other species were scattered and hard to find. The crappie fishing had been fair earlier in the year but tapered off by June.

The weather report for the event called for some showers and wind in the 10 mph range. Well, true to Eastern Oregon fashion Mother Nature had other plans. Most anglers started the day at about 5:30 and fishing was good for and hour or so. By 7 the winds had picked up and you could see the storm line complete with whitecaps moving in. In short order the conditions deteriorated and participants started making their way to shore to wait for the storm to move through. Because of the topography of the Powder River arm of Brownlee, sheltered areas could be found so a few anglers elected to stay out and try to fish through. We were treated to an awesome lightning and thunder show for the next few hours and by noon the weather started to clear.

After placing very well in past BCS events, Brad Hole was finally able to put able to put a winning stringer together in less than perfect conditions. He did it in style by logging 4 species in the first hour, going back to his room for breakfast and coffee, then heading back out to secure the win by catching the only LMB and a fifth species. Congratulations Brad.

Mark Veary stayed out during the storm and it payed off with a second place finish. Hoku Lau also elected to stay out through the storm and rounded out the top three with some dandy fish. Jim Davis won the Mack's Lure Challenge by posting the largest scoring fish using Mack's gear.

Top 10 Score

1. Brad Hole 763.625
2. Mark Veary 659.375
3. Hoku Lau 651.875
4. Jed Rivera 646.5
5. Brian Beardsly 646.375
6. Jim Davis 527.875
7. Michael McCord 472.5
8. Victor Diaz 396.375
9. Kyle Zemke 396
10. Dycus Jamal Washington 165

There were some razor thin margins between places. Wow.

Thanks Jed for putting this on, given such trying times and last minute notice!  As usual, the entire weekend was a great time with an equally great group of hardcore fishermen and women.  Can't wait for next year!

Great event as usual Jed.  Crazy how the weather changed as it did.  Glad everyone stayed safe and could fish!  Looking forward to the next one!

The buckle finally came in. Liking the name on it, may have to do this every year.
