Planning to do at least 1 kayak-assisted squidding session downtown over the holidays. Anyone have any experience putting a kayak in downtown near the wheel? Bell Harbor Marina seems tempting, but not sure how that would go. Worst case is put in around Seacrest or maybe near the sculpture park and then paddle over. Anyone have any intel?

I think Seacrest would be your only option or under the 1st Ave Bridge on the Duwamish.   That's a hell of a paddle.

 You might try your luck around Seacrest and skip downtown.  Squid move around. I've found them in the middle of the day, just in deeper water.  Add a dropper weight below your squid jigs and drop down into schools when you find them on sonar.

Jack Perry Memorial Park, just south of the Coast Guard.   I used that for a put-in several years ago.  Google Maps still shows it as a possible place.  It was a crude launch point depending on tide level but worked at the time.  https://www.google.com/maps/place/Seattle,+WA/@47.5881577,-122.342334,123m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x5490102c93e83355:0x102565466944d59a!8m2!3d47.6062095!4d-122.3320708
"A venturesome minority will always be eager to get off on their own,
and no obstacle should be placed in their path;
let them take risk, for God sake, let them get lost, sun burnt, stranded, drowned,
eaten by bears, buried alive under avalanches -
that is the right and privilege of any free American."

Thanks guys! Will let you know what I end up doing, probably won’t be for at least a week though.

I live in WS and squid off the dock at Seacrest, so part of the thought is the novelty of a session directly downtown, as well as using the light of the wheel (vs my 1500 lumen rechargeable). That Jack Perry Park looks interesting. Do want to make sure my car etc is secure at night so will do a little more scoping before committing.

For future reference, consider Pocket Beach in Olympic Sculpture Park.

I lived on 1st Ave between Denny and Broad for 16 years and regularly walked the 10 minutes to Pocket Beach down 1st Avenue in my drysuit with my kayak loaded for fishing on wheelies. Tourists at the park would stare and often take pictures. Depending on how long I had been out, walking the one block up Broad from Western to 1st Avenue might require a rest stop.
