Where would you put in?  I have fished the Columbia for salmon a few times, but to be honest have not been very successful and given its enormity and currents it's a bit intimidating.  Given the state of the run would you go for Austin point/mouth of the Lewis or is that too low in the river? Davis bar/blurock park? or maybe closer up to PDX say out of Gleason (the only place ive actually caught a fall fish).

Thanks Zach.  I was leaning towards there since you can also hit the mouth of the lewis if the current picks up.   Do you usually launch from the RV park or the beach?

Austin Pt, Mouth of the Lewis has been pretty darn good. 2.5 hours late afternoon yesterday had 5 take downs, got my chinook and a jack. Trolled for a coho shallow with hoochie spinner but only got 2 solid take downs that didn't stick. Unfortunately family duties call or I would be out there for all the incoming tides this weekend.

Looks like a great afternoon but dang sick kids keep getting in my way, plus fighting Friday traffic from southwest Portland and crossing i5 bridge was not appealing. My plan is all day tomorrow from Austin but maybe I can convince the wife that two evenings are better than one full day

Dragging the kayak out today, going to launch off sauvies island. What depth are you fishing your gear? Any scent?

Chinook was in 40-45 FOW. 16oz at 35-45'. Monkey Pickle spin fish. Jack and a take down on double trouble too. Two take downs on hoochie spinners. This was near the end of the incoming and fish were suspended

I am going at first light at either Drano or Austin Pt. Wind up the gorge and an outgoing tide at mouth of the Lewis. Neither great, but tons of fish. Last day on the Columbia is tempting, but looking at fish counts the number of fish between Bonneville and the Dalles dam is pretty impressive.
