She's met bsteves and Spot at REI demo I believe, but I don't think anyone else.

I can't tell if this is a sick and twisted comment or that's just where my mind is.

Ahhhh BSteves and Spot are harmless around your little lady.   One knows damn near everything about every species of fish, and the other one knows where and how to catch them with ease.

And she'll be safe around me too, cause I'm overweight, going bald and not the fastest boat in the marina.  So... odds are good she'll be able to get away safely.   ;)

You never know whom she'll be bumping boats with after a few beers....  >:D

SWEET! Getting excited!! 8ft & 20kts is just plain old work and I probably would've just sat on the beach and watched everyone sweat......but 6ft &<15kts is about as good as it gets.

Now if I could just get this 2 week old handline induced crick out of my neck..........

No way man, I'd still boat at 8ft & 20kts, but fishing would just plain suck. As I'm feeling slack-assy lately, if it was big and windy I'd probably just chose to chill and drink beer on the beach.

7ft is about my limit for "fun" fishing. that big or bigger I usually just surf or boat or hang on the beach.

My drive for big water fishing is pretty low the last few years...it's just to much work and not enough fishing....better just to boat or hang.

6ft however is pretty manageable!

Also, I tend to be pretty appathetic until I smell the sea air, then I start chomping at the bit to get out.

I saw mention of some folks fishing possibly fishing Newport on Sun.  I took the night off, so I'm not in much of a hurry to get home Sun.  If I read the tides right (on MSW), low slack starts at 130PM, and is a 1.8f coming from a 5.2f High.  Not much of a hurry to get out there, and could use the end of the tide to make the paddle a breeze without it being a hard ebb.

Do ya launch at the marina and paddle out and around, just below the crabbing pier, or do ya put in somewhere along the South jetty somewhere?

This place has a launch practically made for kayakers! It's a ramp that they've stopped using for whatever reason and blocked it off with cement barriers from what I remember. You can still drive down on the ramp though, drop yer yak right there and park very close. There's also a restroom right next to the launch. Then you paddle for about 5 min. through the protected marina area(right past the Rogue Brewery  ;D) and you're right in the bay. There might be other places you could launch from that might be closer to the finger jetties, but when you consider parking and ease of launch, you can't beat this place.
I'm still considering if I'm going to head out there Sunday but just thinking about how nice and easy that launch is makes it really tempting.
