Yup, I figured on that as the place to launch via the marina, I was just curious if someone found a suitable launch closer to the jetty somewhere that would work for yaks.

Now if they would just tell me where to drop the jig and haul up the winning lunker.

Speaking of winning lunkers.  Someone needs to keep a close eye on The Nothing this year so he doesn't sneak off and have his buddy toss him a big fish shore, staight from the local seafood market.   ;D

You go Boy!

Just keep in mind that halibut isn't on the list of ORC contestable species....

Spot you should spend the day helping him.   8)

I saw mention of some folks fishing possibly fishing Newport on Sun.  I took the night off, so I'm not in much of a hurry to get home Sun.  If I read the tides right (on MSW), low slack starts at 130PM, and is a 1.8f coming from a 5.2f High.  Not much of a hurry to get out there, and could use the end of the tide to make the paddle a breeze without it being a hard ebb.

Do ya launch at the marina and paddle out and around, just below the crabbing pier, or do ya put in somewhere along the South jetty somewhere?
This place has a launch practically made for kayakers! It's a ramp that they've stopped using for whatever reason and blocked it off with cement barriers from what I remember. You can still drive down on the ramp though, drop yer yak right there and park very close. There's also a restroom right next to the launch. Then you paddle for about 5 min. through the protected marina area(right past the Rogue Brewery  ;D) and you're right in the bay. There might be other places you could launch from that might be closer to the finger jetties, but when you consider parking and ease of launch, you can't beat this place.
I'm still considering if I'm going to head out there Sunday but just thinking about how nice and easy that launch is makes it really tempting.

This sounds like a Sunday gathering...I'm in. Hold on though, I still need to buy a new FF tomorrow on the way to the beach!  :o
