Title: Hello from Eugene!
Post by: LocalHedgeBitch on March 14, 2023, 05:29:04 PM
Hi all! My name is Marisa and while I致e been kayaking for a long time, I知 relatively new to kayak angling. I got a Hobie PA14 this past summer and I love it. I知 currently getting a dry suit custom made (too fat for standard sizes) and I知 looking forward to fishing year round from my yak. I grew up in Brookings, OR so pretty much all of my hunting/fishing/foraging knowledge is very specific to that area, and I知 definitely learning as I go. Specifically I知 getting into kokanee fishing and I値l be trying out Detroit, Suttle, Green Peter, and Triangle lakes this summer.

I look forward to getting to know and learning from y誕ll!

Welcome to the NWKA Marissa.  This is a great group to belong to.  You can get your photos to align right if you slightly crop them and save (don't know why but it works).  Enjoy!

Hello Marisa, I'm one of the Eugene crew.

Triangle  is a fun lake, Kokanee have been spotty for me, but skinny cutthroat are usually around and the bass can be good once the weather warms a little.  Green Peter seems to have an unbelievable number of smaller Kokanee.  It was the first place I started fishing for Kokes and with no experience I had no trouble finding and catching some.  Only 8-9" though so a tough filet job.

Good luck with the dry suit.  They were in short supply when I was buying and it took a bit of looking around and trying on to find one that fit right and was comfortable enough to fish for a couple hours.

welcome Marisa.
Odell Lake is a fantastic kokanee fishery, opens in late April, nice boat ramps for launching a kayak and very short pedal/paddle to productive fishing areas.  Early season can be really fun jigging if the wind stays low.  Weather can definitely be a challenge and the water is cold, so the right gear is a must.
