you bet, that sure is something to smile about.
"A venturesome minority will always be eager to get off on their own,
and no obstacle should be placed in their path;
let them take risk, for God sake, let them get lost, sun burnt, stranded, drowned,
eaten by bears, buried alive under avalanches -
that is the right and privilege of any free American."

Great catch! I bet it was exciting to deal with :-) Was is out of PC? Also, what are those white things? I am highly motivated to catch a halibut this summer at PC so any tips are appreciated.

Thanks, they’re always a blast! This was not at PC this was in Washington. The white things are the otoliths! I usually try to take them from all of my halibut and make things out of them

Neah Bay?

Sheesh just let the guy be cagey. Not speaking for him but some folks are quiet for a reason: It really sucks when you drive up to your launch spot to find some asshole has somehow taken up 5 parking spots with his one truck and trailer.

I had to look up "otolith"..... "An otolith (Greek: ὠτο-, ōto- ear + λῐ́θος, líthos, a stone), also called statoconium or otoconium or statolith, is a calcium carbonate structure in the saccule or utricle of the inner ear, specifically in the vestibular system of vertebrates."  Now I am clear as mud.   ???  Very nice halibut!

lol. I am not trying to get the exact spot as even knowing few general areas at PC I still haven't caught one. Speaking to few  people that hooked into them, they were not targeting halibut specifically; all were bycatch. Although, if author wanted to share the exact spot that would be appreciated.

Everyone is free to do their thing. In my world I don't ask and I certainly would never share, that's the code.

Great halibut by the way. Still haven't got one myself and every year the thought of catching one grows a little bigger in the back of my mind. Thanks for the inspiration.
