So on Saturday we are having a kayak fishing tournament here in San Diego to benefit Heros On the Water, two divisions - bass and halibut. I will be fishing the halibut division, so I have been digging through my salmon stuff and putting together some halibut bounce ball rigs using dodgers and hoochies. Yesterday I had a teeth cleaning and as usual they sent me home with a little zip bag with a tooth brush and floss. Tossing it on the table, I realized that the zip bag they gave me is the perfect storage container for my halibut rigs - so today I stopped by the dentist and begged for several more to store fishing gear in. Never thought I'd ever look forward to my next appointment with the dentist...

As a matter of fact I AM setting up for a tournament...... now that’s still way to many but I’ll take requests for the extras at cost per each. Any takers? Looks to be $0.40 each for the 6X10 who’s in for how many?
I’ll need about 200 spoken for.

A great option if you have a dentist that gives these out, mine just give us a little plastic bag to hold the toothbrush and floss.
Another good option for those in the PDX area (and they do ship also) is fish-field's flasher and dodger bags:

I picked up one last year and really like it quite a bit.
Another option for those of us cheapskates is to get an expanding file folder for ~$6 at a walmart, target, freddy's, etc. It stores dodgers, flashers, and leaders pretty well on the kayak and doesn't take up much space. Also it fits nicely into a milk crate if you choose to use one.

If my math is right we’re at 175 spoken for so a couple more interested in them and we’re a go. If y’all want to go crazy nuts I can order a second batch with 275?additional spoken for.

I think that puts it a 220? If there isn't enough interest to order 2 cases, I'll drop my number down to 30 so you'll have enough to accommodate Ray.

Got it. We’re looking good for both sizes so far. So let’s plan on that for now. I can use the smaller ones for the tournament or if we get enough interested (500 spoken for) I can order 576 of the big ones, they com in sets of 288. We’re already halfway there!

Pretty awesome that my little find has turned into a huge group buy - totally cool!
Heck - if there is any available put me down for 5 or 10 6x10's. The deeper bag can accommodate flat falls...
Saturday I peddled my kayak 12.6 miles bounce balling the dodger/hoochie setup sitting on top in the picture with a pound and a half ball. Worked just outside the surf line in 12 feet of water all the way out to the 100 foot mark. Not a single bite - and to rub salt to the wound, lost the dodger/hoochie overboard in 60 feet of water when I was swapping it out to see if a different color would change my luck. When I got back to the weigh in location felt somewhat better when I discovered that nobody had caught halibut that morning, even the live bait drifters...
