Title: kayak fishing in Valdez?
Post by: akalmeda on May 26, 2018, 05:29:22 PM
Does anybody have an update for kayak fishing in Valdez?  I'm going to attempt to try and fish out of there in the next couple of weeks.  Thanks in advance.

I think Kardinal84 did some kayak fishing there a couple years back, maybe later in the year though... you might try PM to him if he doesn’t pick up on this thread.

I’d like to get there for the silvers, and have not paddled out from there for Halibut ever.

Probably way too early for salmon in the bay, even for pinks. Of course rockfish and halibut are swimming about but have no idea whether anything "decent" would be in range of a 'yak.

Go to the ADFG weekly fishing reports for PWS and review their ARCHIVE files. Go down to the bottom of the page and change the year to last year or other years and then choose the dates you want to review for what is happening in the Valdez area. That will provide a timeline as to when the pinks start arriving and when the first silvers show up.
