With the wind not looking good anywhere, I just said what the hell and went. I made it to Laurence lake a little after 8. When I got to the lake I was contemplating my options as I could see the white caps forming. Some water by the dam was protected so I decided to launch and give it a go.

Fish finder read 40°. As I trolled to the edge of the choppy water I could see i have been out in far worse so I continued on and turned west. As I trolled along in front of the campground my maglip 2.5 in black/silver flake Got smacked but was gone when I got my rod free. I continued on a 100yds or so and as I trolled by a point it got hit again and stuck. Landed a nice 13 or so rainbow. Trolled on to the west end with no luck.made a gear change for shallower water. Trolled the stump field for a while then headed east along the North shore.fish finder said 36° burrr. i hardly even get my rod in the holder when it went off. I knew I was in bull trout water but I wasn't expecting it. I have caught them before just never in the kayak. The heavy head shakes and bulldog fight gave it away initially but you never know till you see it. In the super clear water over 15ft away I could see white fin edges and gold sides.after 2 dodged net attempts I finally slid it in the net.i headed for the shore to get a few pics and untangle the well hooked fish from the net in calm waters. After a few pics it was on its way to go eat more rainbows.never measured it but it had to be close to 16". Trolled east with a few hits and one more rainbow. Got to the dam and wondered if I was on the Columbia with the big waves and white caps and decided to call it quits. Good days come in all forms.good with the bad. Know your limits and make it happen.

Always fun to get new species from the plastic vessel.  Nice work in those rough conditions!

Love those pink spots.  Nice fish.  From my experience 16" is large for that lake.

I saw some big marks super deep over 40' but wasn't prepared for it.
