Anyone up for kayaking in Alaska? Forgive me if this has been posted before but...

The photo was taken at the entrance to Katlian Bay at the end of the road in Sitka, Alaska. The whale is coming up to scoop up a mouthful of herring(the small fish seen at the surface around the kayak). The kayaker is a local Sitka Dentist. He apparently didn't sustain any injuries from the terrifying experience. The whale was just around the corner from the ferry terminal, and all the kayaker could think at the time was: "Paddle really fast!"

Jees! At first I thought that was a fin on the left, but it looks like the whole mouth. That dentist took dentistry too far. >:D

I see no reflection of the yellow kayak in the water. I'm going with photo chop.

Hmm, good point. The whale reflects well with the head, nothing from the yak.

lol.  What makes these pictures good are they are right on the edge of reality.  Two weekends ago I was kayaking in PWS and had humpbacks cruise by so close that when they got upwind of me, you could smell their breath and feel the spray.  GROSSSSS!!!  As beautiful as they maybe in the water, someone give them a FRICKING toothbrush!!

Yea, it's easy to get fooled when you see it the first time and your imagining something like that happeneing to you and your adreneline is going a bit just looking at it, you miss the small details..
See ya on the water..
