Bet somebody somewhere who lost $20 bucks - betting that 1) a kayaker, and 2) a woman kayaker, couldn't land a halibut. Great job! Love the pic of you showing off your fish - let's have more!

Must have just missed you.  I was out there in a big boat on Saturday.  We caught quite a few, but none like yours.  Nice job.  Maybe we can have luck like that next weekend

Holy Cow!  That's awesome!  Thanks for the pics and report.  I'm still trying to get my 1st halibut from a yak.

Today, I shared out 20 lbs of that awesome fish with various friends around town. And then I invited other friends in to share a feast. The freshest of halibut poached in white wine, served with a lemon-caper-shallot sauce, sitting on a bed of curried couscous with a side of roasted Brussels sprouts. The guests bought wines to add to the celebration: Cool Fish,  a 2008 California Chardonnay, and Flying Fish, a 2008 Riesling from the Columbia Valley. The story was told, and retold, and the laughter grew with each bottle opened. Husband was proud. Friends were sated. I was still grinning my crazy grin and remembering the splendid fish that allowed me to catch 'em. Cheers to the halibut! It really doesn't get much better than this.

Thanks for the congratulations, everyone. I still can't believe my amazing good fortune. Couldn't have done it without all of your generous advice, and i thank you for that too.
