There was a lot of noise when they made the announcement last summer, and since then...nothing.

Anyone hearing any more about it ? A pedal driven Ride would be a sweet competitor to the Outback.

They'll release the motorized ones first.  The pedal one has no definite release date.

Everything will be all right in the end, so if it's not all right, then it's not yet the end.

It is expected that there will be a working proto by August at OR and should see the boat released last quarter of 2016 or first of 2017.

Motor kits start shipping 4/1, there was a delay as they decided to wait for the new battery option Torqueedo was about to offer.  Next Adventure has them on order and we should have a demo at Summer Splash.

They showed the first working prototype about a year ago.  They've been teasing us for a long time.

Classic market trailer move. The announce early, hoping to delay a Hobie purchase until their product is out.

I'm in the market, and really hope things will fall into place for a purchase this spring. I may end up waiting another year, but it won't be to wait for their product.

Thanks, CJ. Any detail on the yak itself ? Is this a new version of an existing yak of theirs, or is it all new ? And is this only for the ATAK, or will the Ride/Tarpons have a pedal option ?

They're still in the design and development stage, that video shows part of the prototype.

The Helix Motor system is cross compatible for any boat with the flex pod(Thresher, ATAK, Tarpon 130x) but cross compatibility with the pedal drive is not guaranteed: http://www.wildernesssystems.com/us/experience/news/article/flex-pod-os-console-compatibilities
