Saturday looks like a maybe, Sunday and Monday are looking fairly good.
Who is tempted to go play in the surf?
-
I am planning on Sunday, but not PC. South a ways.
-
I might hunt for salmon out of Fogarty. The coast is going to be a zoo though.
-
Fogarty is the only reasonable place, if the forecasts for Sunday and Monday hold.
Leave the valley at 0430, the only other traffic is going to be boats.
Be at Fogarty at 0600.
Do they actually lock the gate?

I've pulled in there before 0600 before, and the gate was open. But it could be a different story this year...lots of campers around.

Why fogarty over PC?
-
For me. Much shorter drive. The lack of Dory boats is huge! PC will be a mad house is my guess.
-
Mostly distance. Twenty minute drive to Fogarty, vs 1+ hour to PC. But also the timing: 4th of July weekend is gonna turn that beach into a zoo. Same can be said for Depoe Bay. PC does tend to be more consistent for Chinook fishing though, I'll give it that.
Chance of showers this Sunday/Monday. Honestly, I hope it happens ;D.

Like Clayman says PC/CK will be a zoo, and it costs another $10.00 to launch there.
North Fogarty is a small day use park.
There is decent beach access, 2 paved paths to sand on either side of the creek
Depending what the creek has done there's a short sand stretch.
The real prize of Fogarty is it shortens the distance to good fishing areas.
-
PC is always a zoo during the daytime hours. Every weekend. 4th of July or not. But launch at 5 AM and the tourists are still sleeping and parking is easy.
-
I'd be up for Sunday at Fogarty 🤞
-
I’m thinking of fogarty Sunday and maybe Monday too.
Gate was already open at 5:30 when I went last month.
Not sure of my schedule yet … I’ll be there before the beach crowd and maybe as late as 8:30.
-
I will say though that since they limited the beach to only vehicles intended for boat launch/landing PC has been much nicer.
It is still a zoo though.
-
That makes sense. I've only launched at PC in the past. Fogarty doesn't seem like it would be bad at all. Obviously there is bottom fishing right there. I take it the salmon wont be too far out as well? Looks like 180 FOW is less than 3 miles out
Anyone giving Saturday a shot? today's forecast is almost identical to Saturdays from what I see, and the PC cam doesn't look too rough

I've caught salmon out of Fogarty anywhere from the 30 foot contour, to the 200 foot contour. Their location on a given day depends on the conditions, bait location, etc. Sometimes, they're right up on the reef with the rockfish. Other times, you gotta pedal/paddle miles out til you find a good rip/trash line or a group of murrs. The murrs didn't let me down last year, I seemed to hook fish whenever I bee-lined for them.
-
For me, the only downside to fogarty is dragging the boat across the dry sand. The C-tug helps but big balloons would be better.
Launching north of the creek works better right now and either parking lot works.
-
Just gotta keep my fingers crossed that Saturday calms down a little.
-
Every forecast site I use makes Saturday look barfy.
-
I will be at PC tomorrow 0530. Trolling herring!!
