Hi to all. I'm pretty new to kayaking, purchased a 2nd hand Hobie in 2020. I found this forum because my kayak (red 2014 outback, bought in grants pass area) has a faded NWKA decal.

I enjoy camping and fishing towards the coast and local lakes. Favorite and usual spots are Sunset Bay / Bastendorff, Harris Beach, Smith River, Chetco dry camping and Lake of the Woods. I'm hoping to find more spots like Sunset Bay that are protected and not too rough. Also always on the lookout for places I can camp and kayak close to the water. Really hoping to find a good place on the Umpqua like that. If you see an old 4runner towing a 13' fiberglass vintage trailer with a red Hobie on top.. Say hi if you spot me out there.

It would be cool to link up with other locals and learn more about how to fish from the yak. Some of the Hobie related projects planned include installing a down-rigger at some point.

Howdy!

Brookings, Boardman corridor and gold beach are my jam.  I don’t get out as much as I used to because life, but looking to get at least a few more days on the salt this year.

Welcome superkona.  That faded NWKA sticker led you to a great forum.  Lots of good people here sharing their knowledge.

Welcome, I'm a little farther East in Klamath Falls. Diamond Lake is a great place to fish and camp. Klamath lake also has some lunkers.

Indeed! Plus you have one of the coveted NWKA stickers. At some point there was all kind of NWKA swag, I missed out on those! Make sure you check out the many sub-forums here, the "Drillin' & cuttin'" and "Safety" are packed with usefull info and tips.
