A friend of mine let me know that Vets are able to obtain the Covid Vaccination now through the VA. After doing a little research I found the following articles.

He said it was a simple phone call to make both appointments.

True story, I got mine through the VA a month or so ago for the second shot.

You might have mentioned it, Drifter. We have a lot of veteran's in this forum and OHA is doing a piss-poor job of getting vaccine distributed. Right now, I should be fully vaccinated, but I might - MIGHT - see my first vaccine in late May or early June.
If I can call the VA and schedule a vaccination appointment, that information might be important to know.

How do you figure. Everyone over 16 who wants a vaccine should be able to get it by May 1st.
I'm going to be eligible on march 29th. To my surprise I reciently read I have an underlying condition. I have a barely qualifying BMI. Pizza and beer intake is paying off.

I don't "figure". I got that information from the person in charge of vaccinations in my area just yesterday. Eligibility isn't the same as vaccine availability - fewer than half of the registered 70-year old folks where I live have been vaccinated. There's a limited amount of vaccine around and OHA is trickling it in, 200 doses at a time.
How do you figure. Everyone over 16 who wants a vaccine should be able to get it by May 1st.

They are available. Try a different location. I could have had one at Bimart last week if I was the right age.

You definitely can get it elsewhere in the state if you're able to travel. I know you've got family up this way so it may be worth a trip. Let me know if you're interested and I can help get you scheduled either here or somewhere near you. I have gotten a bunch of family and friends appointments, it takes persistence but we can make it happen if you're willing to drive a bit.

I can't speak for the 200 doses being released at a time, as I haven't looked this information up, but I can speak on my direct knowledge of my wife's office: She is part of a small private practice in WA, and depending on which vaccine they get, their office will do 200 doses (pfizer I believe), or 700-800 doses (moderna I believe) in an afternoon! They run 1 or 2 of these clinics a week now, and there are a number of clinics doing the same thing in our area (Kitsap County WA).
Your dr's office might only get 200 doses at a time, but surely there are more offices/clinics/hospitals you can reach out to. Also, you might try to get on what I'm calling the "dumpster diver list." Every day we run a vaccine clinic, there are no-shows...these no-show shots have to be thrown out, so you might see if you can get on a list for these "junk" vaccines.

Yes, definitely try to get on the notify lists for vaccine doses that would have to thrown out. Sources can be CVS, Walgreens, Kroger’s, Safeway, etc, in addition to the hospitals and state/county sites.

Yeah, sorry. Guess I just was selfish and didn't think of it. I had my annual screening (phone appointment) in January and my VA PC asked if I had gotten the vaccine. No. He asked if I wanted it? Duh, yeah, is that an option? He said I could get the first shot the next week. The problem is I was quarantined at the time as my daughter and her boyfriend were sick with covid in my house at that time. I had to wait for three weeks. But then just show up a few minutes early for appointment and it was easy.

Just looking for a vaccine in the central Oregon area and found available appts for the 2 dose vaccine at Fred Meyer Bend and also Safeway in Madras for Wed/thurs. Just got to keep looking or be willing to drive a I guess.

Last Thursday I signed up on the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde vaccination program site and indicated that I'm a veteran. They are offering to doses to the public on sort of a lottery system and since they're on the federal level, the only requirement is that you are over 18 (they're giving only Moderna). Later that same day I get an email asking me to setup an appointment for the following Tuesday (today). I think being a veteran might have given me an edge since I've heard lots of other people wait a week or two before getting picked. They are running a great operation. Just north of the Spirit Mountain Casino, I waited in line outside of their gym in line for about 45 min and once I got in the door the whole thing went very fast. I'm heading back there later next month for the booster.

Nah, you weren't being selfish and I would never consciously accuse you (or anyone except me) of being selfish. It's been a weird year and I like to believe folks are just relieved to have access to the vaccine and everything else just falls to the wayside. You do great work for NWKA, and if what I said (or how I said it) in any way made you feel self-conscious, I owe you an apology.

I heard about the tribe's program a while back, signed up for an appointed time via their eventbrite. It was first come first served via reservations. We showed up 15 minutes before our time (my first wife and I), stood in the line for 10 minutes, bing bang boom like clockwork. On our way 30 minutes after we arrived. They did a great job.
We got our second dose 2 weeks ago.
