Is there anyone in the Great Falls local area looking for a fishing partner?

Thanks for the reply. I am a complete rookie when it comes to fishing from a kayak but am looking forward to learning. Trying to finish up a house remodel but will try and get with you then.

Just got into late last year so only have chased trout so far. Looking forward to trying for walleye and pike just to name a couple.

Walleye can be found below the dam at Holter. I haven't fished there before in a yak but know guys who catch them from shore. i intend on trying from the yak someday. Pike can be found from the Morony dam to fort peck. The section right below Morony has a community hole right across the river from the parking lot. I'm warning you right now, if you are a beginner paddler then don't try it! It's dangerous and you could get in trouble real quickly. The current is very swift there and you have to know what your doing. At the end of the summer it's easier and safer. Downstream from there is also dangerous with numerous rapids and falls. There is one especially dangerous rapid at the Big Eddy. Experts don't even try it in certain places. Swirling currents will trap you against the falls. After the Eddy it's clear sailing to several take spots all the way to Loma. there are several stretched that 16 mile between spots and they are all day paddles when you factor in fishing. Lot's of good holes along the way. It takes 2 vehicles and 2 people. Don't paddle alone! I didn't take my own advice and almost drowned at Carter Ferry. I'm a very experienced paddler and was over confident in my abilities. I was lucky! Very, very lucky! Please take my advice and respect the river. It's very powerful and easy to underestimate. Tight Lines Rob

I totally agree on respecting the river. I plan to stick to slow moving water until I get more time with the yak and paddle.

2 good little spots for bass are Kolar pond in Geyser. Bit of a run, mostly small fish but plenty of them. the other is the fishing access in Vaughn. Same thing but closer. Also a little smaller
