you guys are amazing!  sort of similar results at Simpson Reef, just smaller.  a dozen legal lings and a nice cabby released but best I could take home was 27" and 29". sadly, the crab were somewhere else.

Pepper and I did get a visit from a big Coast Guard Star Destroyer, I'll post a separate thread on that, another example of how awesome the Coast Guard is.

Went out Saturday with my brother-in-law in his boat(the plan was to go to Simspon Reef) but when we were going along the North Jetty, he was running the side scan. Didn't get too far for the whole screen lite up with fish from top to bottom hugging the rocks. Needless to say, an hour later we were back at the dock. 3 of us with a limit. Smallest black was about 4-1/2 lbs. with the biggest going about 6lbs. They all hit herring pattern swimbaits and flies anywhere from 4-1/2in. to 5in. Even handed the fly rod off to my brother-in-law and father-in-law and they thought that was a blast.

Pond-like day out of Depoe Bay. It was flat all day and just enough breeze so the sun wasn't hot. We fished south and had non-stop lingcod action, but very few rockfish. A few nice cabezon in the mix, too (released, of course). My best lingcod was 34" - after a tough year last year for lingcod, that was a welcomed change!
