I was looking at the ocean forecast at PC and it appears favorable for Thursday 11/18. Being relatively new to this (first season) do you guys ever get out in the winter to fish at PC if the weather allows or it's a big no-no? Last time I got out with my buddy (about a month ago), we were the only two kayakers out there with a few dory boats and had the best fishing day.

looks like it could be a bit "sporty" to me given the direction of the secondary and tertiary swells but you never know sometimes until you get there. Plus, to one paddler it may look good, to another not so much.
There is a weather system moving onto the coast as well sometime tomorrow bringing rain. Not sure about the wind action, but there will likely be gusts with that front coming onshore. Winter weather prediction and conditions certainly can be challenging.

I wouldn't go.
There's a SSE wind steady at 10 mph with gusts to 30 through noon.
South wind always sucks.
The swell isn't great and is on an upward trend.
That being said, go to the beach and look at what it's actually doing, the forecast can be wrong.

I agree with Monkeyfist that the wind is the biggest concern to turn the day ugly. The other thing I’ve noticed is that good condition windows often close quickly in the winter. If you have the day free, it might be worth looking at in person, but be ready for plan B. At least watch the conditions as it gets closer. There are good days to get out in the winter and fishing can be awesome.

Go to the Cape Kiwanda RV park web site.
They have the best web cam for PC.
Look at what it shows and then look at what your weather app is telling you.
Nice surfing waves right now.

Thank you everyone for your responses. They have definitely cooled me down. That south wind will most likely ruin the day.

It for doesn't look like fun on the webcam today.....

Yes, white caps in the distance. I am glad I did not go.

Keep the Tillamook Bay jetty in mind for winter fishing, a bit less exposed.

It's difficult to fish in a bay after you tried fishing at PC. It definitely spoiled me ;)

I concur.
I've gotten limits of blacks every time I've gone to Tilly, but the ones I catch at PC could swallow em whole!
Much bigger fish, and much more variety out of PC or Depoe.
