Took the AutoPilot up to Oregon City on the Willamette for some shad fishing. Started out slow but quickly lit up. I was definitely the hot boat and had over 70 bites landing some 40 fish. The spot lock on my AutoPilot is amazing. Anchoring without ropes is the cat's meow.

It really seems like it. This and the sturgeon one really highlighted the capability and benefits of these systems. I commented on the video that this has me seriously contemplating making a Minn Kota setup for my Sportsman 120 PDL.

Those ipilot enabled Minn Kotas with spot lock are $$$$ though.

Hard to beat what Old Town offers in those autopilots.

Maybe after I lose some weight with this PDL ;D

how feasible is this fishery without an anchor? I would reall like to get some crab bait and try this out, but not really wanting to anchor.  If you pedal/backbounce can it still be effective?

I don't bother with the anchor anymore for this fishery.  Just fish above the 205 bridge and do a slow troll upstream or point flip the drive around and point downstream while hovering or moving around slowly.

Lead on a long dropper (maybe 2 ft or more).  Somewhere in the 1-4 oz range should get the job done.

Trolling has the added advantage of allowing you to hunt and find those "shad lanes".

That Spot Lock is something else.  I want one!  Can I retrofit it to my Trident?  :D

As always, it's a great video.
I expected the worst, but it was worse than I expected...
