Got my first kayak five months ago ... now reasonably equipped and having a blast on the central Oregon coast.

Bucket list = 1. chinook on Siletz  2. rockfish offshore  3. beach launch before breakfast  4. kokanee in the Cascades

Welcome aboard!

Your list seems very attainable. The rockfish offshore should be an easy one living in Depoe Bay.

What kind of kayak did you get?

Always a good idea to practice some self rescue skills before going out on the ocean.

You could get 1, 2, and 3 done on the same day in time to have the salmon for lunch.

cheers!  welcome to NWKA!  safe to say that at least a few of us are planning to visit your part of the coast in July/August to chase salmon...Pepper and I certainly are.

I don't see a lake coho (Siltcoos or Tahkenitch) on your initial list but if you decide to try this fun fishery in Oct/Nov, shoot me a PM for the latest intel...cheers, roger

Welcome neighbor! Coho are predicted to be abundant and the season is almost upon us. Silvers out of DB is always at, or near the top òf my favorites.
Let's go get'em.

I'd love to try for some Depoe coho, please keep me posted on that Mr. Banger!
A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,
but why risk it?

I appreciate the warm welcome and your comments.
To address some of them ...
- I bought a '21 hobie compass and so far I'm really happy with it.
- I've  done some self rescue in devil's lake but not yet in challenging conditions.
- my excursions have been limited to Devils, Ollala, Big Creek2, Munsel lakes, and the Siletz River.  But, I'm  ready to extend the list.
- lake run coho is on the list but somehow I missed it the other night.
- looking forward to a group session for my first ocean adventure...perhaps the rockfish tourney next month.
- lincoln beach, really? That's a more precise description of my home.  Let's  chat.

Dockside Charters report: "Opening day of Coho season was unspectacular, very little action and only one keeper."
