After hearing my brother-in-law's stories on his kayak and how much he loves being out on the water, I was finally convinced to pick up a used Hobie Outback this summer. I've been out a handful of times. Most recently, I was able to hook some Pinks out of Mukilteo over Labor Day weekend. Now I've got fish on the brain! I've been reading a lot of great information on this site and thought it would be nice to learn and connect.

The closest boat ramp for me is at Shilshole Marina.

Cheers!

Welcome to NWKA Gerb! Lots of information here and knowledgeable people. Also, quite a few kayakers that launch from Shilshole, some NWKA members, some not. Make sure to say hi next time you are in the water, most kayak fishers are very friendly and happy to connect. Great that you already caught some fish, or that fish caught you already, one hooked up on kayak fishing, it is hard to stop! Also make sure you check some of the safety tips that are all over the forum pages, stay safe and have fun on the water!

Thanks for the well-wishes everyone! Yes, I'm hooked!

@skayaker2 I agree, most kayak fishers I've encountered have been very friendly. One of the trips out, my brother and I met a couple out on the water and a little while later he was kind enough to pedal over help net a fish. Also, I'll be reading up on safety tips for sure! Especially as the water gets colder and the weather a nastier.

Welcome!  Shilshole is a great place to fish, I've caught plenty of Kings, Cohos, and Pinks there from my Hobies.  One thing to consider if you are going to be fishing in the sound a lot is a dry suit.  As you no doubt know, the water is always cold and things can go bad fast if you go in unexpectedly and you aren't dressed for it.  I run the Hobie dept at Outdoor Emporium in Seattle, very close to you, and would be more than happy to show you what we have for dry suits as well as any other Hobie related accessories you might need.
