Title: Bucket for rectangular hatch
Post by: MakoMark on January 21, 2022, 12:47:17 PM
I have a new 2021 Compass, never strapped down. I installed the horizontal rectangular hatch.  I split the difference between the scupper holes and the drive.  The further forward the easier access but the standard bucket was 3/4 in to tall in the front.  I thought that this was too much to deform with a heat gun so I  cut a wedge on both sides and let the front edge  overlap.  Put three small screws on the front edge, sealed the seam inside and out with hot melt glue. I was afraid I wouldn't find a glue that would stick, but the hot melt really did the trick.  Now fits fine!

Inventive.  Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, it's a bummer they didn't take this into account for the Compass.  The vertical hatch will fit (on 2021 and earlier) and allow the bucket to be used in most compasses although there was a bulletin saying that it no longer fits in the 2022's, must having something to do with the new seats.  They do say the horizontal still fits in the 2022's but that the bucket fit is "inconsistent" I imagine having to do with variations in the molds.
