So can anyone help me with some tips to avoid this problem with the net. Mine is not large but it is rubber coated with small mesh. I thought these supposed to be better for the fish.
As they say hopefully better luck next time.

My biggest tip to avoid your problem would be to check a wind app before going out and pick days with favorable winds first.  The wind app I use daily is windfinder.com. You can put in a location close to where you are fishing then get wind forecast for the coming week.  I find it to be pretty close on its predictions most of the time.  Regardless of how you carry your net and bag, kayak fishing on really windy days is no fun.
The two best times to fish is when it’s raining and when it ain’t. -Patrick McManus

Being retired, they pay me when I go fishing, therefore I am kind of a professional fisherman.

Thank you I was looking on my phone for some wind information. I know it often gets windy in the afternoon there. Fortunately the incoming tides are early next week.

Check out the app called “Windy”. Pretty cool stuff.

On another note I may have tore my hamstring today. Hoping to get into the doctors tomorrow and get the diagnosis process started. Hopefully my springer season didn’t end before it began.

I haven't put my steelhead rods down either. Not my video but I saw this a couple weeks ago...not sure if it counts as a report.

I think this is from last year

I've heard of a few fish bein caught there in the past week.
Nothing terribly specific, don't know any statistics.
I'm gonna do Oregon City on Fri, if anyone would like to join.
A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,
but why risk it?

Do you launch at Sportcraft?
I might be able to swing that...

Yeah, at eNRG.
Heard there are at least twenty boats under the bridge this morning.
So, it'll likely be crowded tomorrow, but most likely cause there's fish there.

Well got out there on Friday.  Lots of boats under the bridge but no nets flying, after 2 pass I went to turkey flats and did 2 passes there nothing there either went down towards Ross Island bridge and about halfway there this baby hits my gear. I could be more happy. Finally my first springer on the kayak.  After 3 years of trying I could be more happy. Gutted and filled this hen was 14.7lbs and 36inches long. Such an epic battle.  I dunno how you guys net these beast with gear as long as your rods. I pretty much had to wait til the fish was belly up before I could pull him into the net.  Happy fishing all!!

I trolled the Big C on Saturday AM at Davis bar. Incoming tide. A lot of boats, zero fish being caught.

I went back in the PM and did the same troll. The tide had switched to outgoing, mid cycle. I started my troll up river, with a 360 and coonie spinner. Wham! Two minutes into the troll, fish on.

Nice fish! Consider trying a longer rod, it should help with netting

I use a 9’11” 15-30 rod…. Thought it was long enough…. Might have to get a 10’6
